Day 2 in London and drive to Cardiff

Wed night - tube from canary wharf to westminster - amazing view of big ben and parliment as you come up from the tube station. long walk along the river past the Eye and back across the bridge to the ship and shovel pub near covent garden. strolled up piccadilly circus and ate dinner at a disco-tech type place (food was so-so.) strolled through hyde park and past buckingham palace by the light of a full moon. note to self - dont wear high heels all day while walking :)

up this morning (thurs) and went for a run along the thames - about 1.5 miles to the westminster area (big ben) and then turned around. checked out local grocery (tesco's and sainsbury) food will be an interesting adventure :) looking forward to my costco goods to arrive

back in the car and drove 1 hour to Stonehenge. amazing site. walked around the stones and learned a lot about the history and mystery of this well known wonder. audio tour was worth it. drove through Bath (unique city - would like to take a train back and spend more time) and arrived in cardiff after eating at a quaint local pub in the countryside along the way

marriott here is nice and welcoming. headed out now to have our first pint in wales. tomorrow we are planning on running through the park and castle grounds in the cetner of town, exploring a little bit and then heading to scotland

much love

Arrival in London

August 28
Arrived safely in London on Tuesday morning. Rented a car and had a interesting time driving on the other side of the road. Jason did a great job driving although we both would flinch as we'd come around a curve and see a car coming right at us! Flight over was a little uncomfortable and i did not sleep much so i was very tired yesterday and slept for about 12 hours overnight last night to catch up. feeling much better today!

My "flat" looks very nice with a great view down the Thames. Can see the London Eye ferris wheel very clearly but the view of Big Ben and Parliment is blocked by a skyscraper - oh well. View is incredible at night with the lights dazzling on the river. Mirrors in the main reception room do open the place up and give it a look of being twice as big. Furntiture is modern - all black, white and glass - will need to spice it up a bit with some color. Still missing a number of pieces that need to be dliverd but am assured they are on there way. Bathrooms are modern and very clean - heated towel racks is a nice touch

Heading out this evening to see some of the touristy areas and give Jason his first real dose of the true London experience - we've vowed to find a pub where we can get fish and chips and a pint of ale. We are off to Wales and Scotland tomorrow on our next adventure. will post pictures of the flat and our travels as soon as i can.

missing charlotte weather as it is already cold enough to wear a jacket here, although i must admit the air feels like fall and without this humidity, it will be great to start running outside again

much love to friends and family
