Paris Weekend
Caroline, Kristin and I snuck away for a quick weekend in Paris. We took the train (so easy!!) from London to downtown Paris and enjoyed two days walking through the city streets, eating crepes, shopping, tasting french cheeses and wine and just experiencing the city. We visited a few of the most famous Parisian attractions but did not feel the pressure of being overly touristy as we all had been there before. Thanks to the girls for a great weekend!
Krakov, Poland
These updates are a bit out of order now, since I went to Poland before I went to Tuscany but it does not really matter! Meredith, Kristin, Cate and I did a quick trip to Poland a few weeks back. We stayed right in the heart of the old city near the main square and really enjoyed the location. We tried some Polish vodka on Friday night and learned that it tastes very good with apple juice - who would have guessed it?
On Sat we took a private tour of the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau which are only about an hour outside of Krakow. It was a very moving experience, quite emotional yet peaceful at the same time. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day which made it actually quite difficult to imagine all of the terrible things that happened at these camps. When you went into the barracks, saw the pictures and listened to the stories though, it made it all so very real.
On Sunday we spent the day exploring Krakow. There is a lovely park that winds around the town, a nice running/cycling path along the river, an old castle with a stunning cathedral and years and years of history. We ended the day with some shopping and made our way back to London late Sunday night.
I would highly recommend this city for a quick weekend visit to any of my London friends. I definitely surpassed my expectations! Enjoy the photos.
